Welcome to Munkfors' Mayor - Celebrating 20 Years of Sister City Solidarity

LINDSBORG, KANSAS - 09/29/2011 - Lindsborg is pleased to announce a reception for Mayor Björn-Olov Hallberg of Munkfors, Sweden, Thursday, October 6 to honor the 20th anniversary of being sister cities. The function is on the 2nd floor of City Hall (101 S. Main Street) in the City Council Chambers from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30. Open to the public, light refreshments will be served.

Munkfors is located in Värmland, the same province where Pastor Olof Olsson left his church in 1869 to bring 85 families from his neighborhood to settle in Lindsborg. Munkfors dedication to higher learning in music and arts is similar to Bethany College, Lindsborg's four year liberal arts institution. Additionally, there are city similarities in population, crafts and businesses. A desire to preserve Lindsborg's heritage and fully understand our history goes hand-in-hand with fostering a vibrant relationship with Munkfors and its people.
