A Night of Comedy in the Esther Mesh Room of Chandler’s Upper Gallery

Monday, February 27, 2012

For those weary of the plethora of Irish and Celtic music offerings in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, Chandler offers a refreshing night of comedy on Saturday March 17 at 7:30 PM in the Esther Mesh Room of Chandler’s Upper Gallery. Randolph’s own Nathan Brady Crain headlines the evening. A cash bar will be available. Crain has performed stand-up comedy at colleges, comedy clubs, casinos and private businesses from coast to coast and was a 2005 finalist at the Higher Ground Comedy Battle and 2009 semi-finalist at the Yuk Yuk’s Great Canadian Laugh Off in Toronto.

Nathan Brady Crain performs an eclectic mix of observational, experiential, and absurdist PG to PG-13 humor with a presence honed on the stages of Randolph Union High School, Chandler Music Hall, UVM, the National Shakespeare Conservatory and through regular appearances on morning radio’s “Corm and the Coach”. Most recently he’s appeared in a regular monthly spot at the prestigious, nationally recognized Comedy Studio in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA. Brady guarantees two things: he “will leave you thinking and leave you laughing”!

Also on the bill for the evening is Colin Ryan, a writer, speaker and stand-up comedian who works for Vermont’s credit unions and was recently featured in Seven Days in the story “Funny with Money”. Colin is somewhat new to the world of stand-up comedy, but was a finalist in the 2011 Higher Ground Comedy Battle and a two-time winner of the popular stand-up comedy contest, Crowd Control. He’s created a blog about comedy and courage at A Stand Up Life. He’s performed locally in Burlington and created that city’s monthly comedy open mic. In March 2011, Colin released his own full-length comedy album, “Let’s Get Uncomfortable”.

Autumn Engroff opens the evening. She “officially” started telling jokes a couple of years ago, but says she’s always wanted to be a comic. She performs throughout the state in various venues, including bars and prisons. General admission tickets for this night of mature comedy are $9 in advance and $11 day of show, and can be ordered by calling the Chandler Box Office at 802-728-6464. Seating is limited and reservations are encouraged. Chandler’s Upper Gallery is wheelchair accessible.
