The premier forum for refracturing existing wells in North America Welcome to the North American REFRAC WELLS 2017 Exhibition & Conference where shale operators and upstream service companies will meet with refracturing experts and technology providers in Houston to share the latest results and explore new techniques for refracturing wells. A rapid decline in shale wells has prompted a new movement towards refracturing depleted or lower producing wells in what is dubbed as a “shale revolution” to combat against the current challenges in the North American shale market. Producers are now looking at techniques already being used in tight rock and vertical wells to revive a large number of existing shale wells with lower costs of production. Over time most horizontal wells will produce at a fraction of their initial rates and large volumes of oil and gas will remain trapped within the rocks which could now be extracted through a refracturing process. While the total cost of developing a horizontal well could reach as much as $8 million, the cost of a refracturing project could be as low as 25% of this at around $2 million. In principle the technique appears to be logical, however as low oil prices have presented the challenges of keeping well production up and operating costs down, this conference will have a unique and timely emphasis on de-risking refracturing operations with overall cost reduction in mind. With developments in technical know-how, refracturing methods offer new hope for shale operators looking to maintain economic margins in the current low-price environment. This year’s REFRAC WELLS 2017 is set to become North America’s leading exhibition and conference exclusively for shale operators and a large array of service providers to explore the opportunities in refracturing existing wells to accelerate production and enhance ultimate recovery. The key focus for this year’s conference will be “sharing results for a shale revolution” and the objective will be to bring shale operators and service companies together with leading industry experts, including new technology providers, government representatives, and policy think-tanks to collaborate and examine new refracturing opportunities and to address the key challenges in reviving shale wells across North America. Key topics on this year’s agenda include:  Making an economic assessment for refracturing low-producing wells  Developing a well selection criteria and identifying suitable wells to refracture  How to de-risk refracturing projects from initial investment through to completions  Looking at cost reduction strategies for operations in a low-price environment  New technologies and technical know-how for a successful refracture  Operational case studies and post-refracturing diagnostics data For more:
